  • In 1040 Gulbert, Flandrensis, was occupied as knight for Osbern the Steward in Rouen, Normandy.

Death

Gulbert, Flandrensis, died from wound recieved when defending the young William The Conqueror from an assassination attempt circa 1041 at age ~19 in Rouen, Normandy. He was buried circa 1041 in Abbey of the Holy Trinity. Gilbert became a monk at the Abbey of the Holy Trinity, probably shortly before he died of his injuries.1
