"The Fleming Clan of Scotland: a genealogical history" - coming in late 2026!
The earliest known Fleming ancestor in the British Isles was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as owning several manors in Devonshire and Cornwall. The Flemings of Slane (Ireland) and Cumbernauld (Scotland) both descend from him. Other Fleming families were seated in both England and Wales.
This website, hosted by Jim Fleming, is designed to provide information for the descendants of all these Fleming clans.

My book "The Fleming Family of Scotland: a genealogical history" is scheduled for release in late 2026. It will tell the story of an aristocratic family from the arrival in Scotland of the paternal and maternal forbears around 1150; its rise to be twice created Earls of Wigtown; until its leaders eventually lost their influence and their title in 1747. If you would like Jim to keep you informed of progress towards publication, opt in to his newsletter.
