Fleming Clan Alliances

While feuds with the Douglas, Tweedie and Kennedy clans were very costly, Scotland's Fleming Clan benefited from the many alliances that its chiefs managed to forge. These were sealed either with strategic marriages or formalbonds of manrent. For example, the family contracted multiple marrages with the following significant Scottish noble families: Bruce, Douglas, Fraser, Graham, Hamilton, Livingstone, Maitland, Seton and Stewart.
