Death
Christopher Fleming, 4th Baron Slane, died in 1457. He having no issue, his barony of Slane and the manors of Croyde and Highbray were settled on his uncle, David Fleming, being next of kin. The remainder of his estate went to his two sisters, Ann Dillon and Amia Bellew. Anne and Walter Dillon took the manor house at Chymwell as their residence, thus taking the Fleming out of Bratton Fleming. The Dillon family resided there for several generations until the early seventeenth century when the manor came into the possession of the Chichester family and the Dillons moved to Northamptonshire. Amia Bellew and her husband John settled in Alverdiscott.
