Simon ("the Patriot") Fraser, of Oliver and Neidpath, was born circa 1270 in Oliver.

Working life

  • Simon ("the Patriot") Fraser, of Oliver and Neidpath, served in the military as captured by English forces at the Battle of Dunbar and imprisoned in England on 27 April 1296 in Dunbar.1
  • He served in the military as released to fight for England's King Edward I in Flanders in 1297 in Flanders.1
  • He served in the military as was present on the English side at the seige of Caerlaverock in 1300 in Caerlaverock.1
  • He served in the military as led the Scottish forces to victory at the Battle of Roslin in 1303.1
  • He served in the military as was with William Wallace when their force was ambushed and defeated by English forces in March 1304 in Happrew.1
  • He served in the military as switched sides again and was employed by King Edward I in the hunt for William Wallace in June 1304.1
  • He served in the military as switched sides again to again support Robert the Bruce in March 1306.1
  • He served in the military as escaped from the Scottish defeat at the Battle of Methven but was later captured by the English at a subsequent engagemnet at Kirkencliff near Stirling on 19 June 1306.1

Death

Simon ("the Patriot") Fraser, of Oliver and Neidpath, died hanged, drawn and quartered by order of England's King Edward I on 8 September 1306 at age ~36 in London. His head was impaled on a spike on London Bridge along with that of William Wallace.
