John Kennedy, 5th Earl of Cassilis, was born in 1575.¹

Father	Gilbert Kennedy, 4th Earl of Cassilis (b. circa 1541, d. 14 December 1576)
Mother	Margaret Kennedy, Countess of Cassilis (d. 1580)

John Kennedy, 5th Earl of Cassilis, and Jean ("Jane") Fleming, Countess of Cassilis, were married on 4 November 1597.²

In 1599 John Kennedy, 5th Earl of Cassilis, was occupied as Lord High Treasurer. Pinkerton -
Through her intrigues, he procured the office of Lord High Treasurer, in 1599, for which he was utterly incapable; and retired from it in disgrace, with the lose of 40,000 merlu, &c³

John Kennedy, 5th Earl of Cassilis, died on 14 November 1615 at age ~40.¹
