- In 1649 Sir Robert Fleming, Standard bearer to his Majesty, was occupied as was a standard bearer at the funeral of King Charles I.1
- He served in the military as cornet of His Majesty's person or lifeguard of Horse under command of Captain the Earl of Newburgh on 31 July 1662. The King was Charles II.1
- He served in the military as was ordered by the Privy Council to march two squadrons of His Majesty's Life Guards to Kilmarnock and Paisley on 13 October 1663.2,3
