On the death of her uncle Charles, seventh Earl of Wigton, as already stated, she became possessor'of the estates of Biggar and Cumbernauld, and she was also, through her mother, heiress-of-line of William, ninth Earl Marischal.

1 He had his estate probated after 22 May 1747. While she inherited the Fleming family estates, she could not inherit the Title of Earl of Wigtown since she was not an heir-male. The title was assumed by Charlea Ross Fleming MD of Dublin who claimed to be descended from Alexander Fleming, son of John, first Earl of Wigtown, who, he alleged, had a son. This claim was eventually considered by the House of Lords which decline to endorse it, so the title has lain dormant ever since.
