  • In 1563 Captain John Fleming, of Boghall, was occupied as Falconer. He had a fourth share in 88/-/- for falconry services provided to the king at Orkney.1
  • He served in the military as was pronounced a rebel and put to the horn while Robert Lord Semple was commissioned by the Privy Council to intromit with Boghall on 24 May 1568 in Boghall Castle. "Intromit" means to send or put something in; to insert or introduce. It can also mean to allow something to enter or be inserted. In older usage, particularly in Scots and old English law, it could also mean to interfere with the property of another.2

Captain John Fleming, of Boghall, possessed.124,13,14,151617 He possessed had sasine of Boghall on 26 August 1559 in Boghall.18 He possessed served heir to his father on 16 September 1559 in Boghall.419 He possessed had a charter of the king and queen in the ancient lands of North Syntoun with castles, towers, forts, advowsons of churches, benefices and chapelties, tenants on 2 December 1566 at Roxburgshire in North Syntoun.204,21,7,22 He possessed his erstwhile property of Boghall and Milton was given to James Cunningham master of Glencairn in July 1578 in Boghall and Milton.2324 He possessed He listed his alternative heirs as: "whom failing, William Fleming, Provost of Biggar, his (Boghalls) sister's son; whom failing, Patrick, his brother; whom failing, Malcolm, his brother's son; whom failing, William, his brother's son ; whom failing, Malcolm, junior, his brother's son". The will was confirmed under the Great Seal 14 April 1582.
