John Graham, 4th Earl of Montrose, was born in 1573.
John Graham, 4th Earl of Montrose, signed a will on 31 December 1612 in Montrose. This explains the close relationship to The Great Montrose thereafter. Note that Fleming was the brother of Montrose's grandmother, Margaret "the witch" Fleming, Countess of Atholl.

Earl of Wigtown, and John Lord Fleming his son, Sir William Livingston of Kilsyth, one of the senators of the College of Justice and Sir William Livingston, his son, and Sir William Graham of Claverhouse and the longest liver of them conjunctly, tutors to the said Lord Graham and to Margaret Graham, Elizabeth Graham, Dorothy Graham and Katharine Graham, his daughters, committing the keeping of the children to the Countess during her widowhood, and after her decease to the said
Earl of Wigtown and his son; at the burgh of Montrose.
